As the state of Texas is getting back to what we are now calling “the new normal”, work on our house continues. Personally, I wish it would go a whole lot faster than it is going, but I also want them to do it right! We have already caught a couple of mistakes that they did with the foundation. For instance they forgot to run an electrical line to Island #2 in the kitchen. Because the islands are out in the middle of the floor and not up against any walls, they needed to run the plumbing and electrical lines through the concrete foundation. Ooops!! They forgot the electrical line to the second island in the kitchen. So now they are going to have to cut out a trench in our brand new foundation to run the electrical feed to the island. They have assured us that this will not impact the integrity of the slab, but personally it kinda makes me a little mad that they are not paying closer attention to the engineering drawings. I am glad that we caught it now, but wonder if we are missing anything else. I have poured over those drawings so many times that I now almost have them memorized. So it’s hard for me when we catch stuff that I assume they should pay closer attention to. It’s the engineer in me, what can I say?
Anyway, Trace and I are doing fine and this weekend we actually went to a restaurant for breakfast. We had not stepped foot into a restaurant since all this COVID-19 stuff started. We went the drive-thru route a few times as that was the only thing available at the time. It was weird but also wonderful to finally go out to eat. Restaurants here can only operate at 50% capacity for the time being. And mind you, we stayed masked right up until they brought us our food. I am truly hoping that we have seen the worst of this COVID-19 crap!
So enough of my rambling. I know you want to see the pictures of the house. So below are my latest and greatest, along with some other pics I took of some birds that have taken up residence at our apartment complex. Enjoy the pics everybody, and please try to stay in touch. We love the correspondences.
