Brick and Stone

So, it’s really starting to get exciting around here as they have been installing the brick and stone on the outside of our house. On the inside, they have installed the fireplace box in our Family Room and all of the electrical, data, and coax cabling throughout the house. Weekend before last, I took 120 pictures of the “bones” of the house as they were supposed to put in the foam insulation last week. Well, that didn’t happen but should be happening soon, so I’m glad I got the pictures taken. It helps to have these if we ever want to do any changes in the house. We will know where all of the wires and such are located.

Last week, Trace and I went barbecue grill shopping. We still haven’t decided whether we want the barbecue to be built into a wall or an island. Initially we were going to have a pony wall on the our concrete pad just outside the back porch. But now we are thinking that an island on that concrete pad might be better. We did however find a barbecue grill. Now we just have to decide what to put it into. Stay tuned!!

We also purchased a mantle. We went to this local place that specializes in solid wood mantles. Ours is a solid hunk of walnut that will look both rustic and yet finished all at the same time. We chose the raw wood hunk and they are going to sand it and clear stain it to bring out the natural wood elements. We took a sample of our floor tile so that we could select a wood that would be fairly close in color. Turns out this will almost be a perfect match. We really lucked out.

Well, here are some recent pics:

As you can see the brick and stone work has begun
Another view…
And another view…
And yet another view…as you can see the brick work is really coming along
Our fireplace… or actually just the fireplace guts. The rest will be installed later.

Ciao for now!! Stay safe everybody!!
